The Best Things To Do In Rovaniemi

There are a lot of things to do in Rovaniemi for families, couples and singles in all of its seasons. Rovaniemi has four seasons which are winter, spring, summer and fall. All of those seasons have some specific things you can do.

Visit Ounasvaara Outdoor Resort

Ounasvaara Outdoor Resort is a ski center where you can go downhill skiing, snowboarding or try regular skiing. You can get there easily by car and it’s only 5-10 minute drive from the city center.

The ski resort has several hills, some suitable for beginners and some for those who already have a longer experience of downhill skiing.

During the summer time Ounasvaara Outdoor Resort has a fun bobsleigh track. This is our kids’ favorite thing to do in Rovaniemi in the summer. You will also be able to take the chair lift from down the hill up to the top and it is a nice experience itself.

And maybe you can come to the top of Ounasvaara to see the midnight sun and admire the beautiful views from there at the same time!

Hike In The Forests Of Ounasvaara

From the top of Ounasvaara there is a nice nature trail through the forest to Tottorakka. We usually take some snacks and coffee with us and walk to Tottorakka to admire the scenery. At the same time, we get to enjoy Rovaniemi’s beautiful nature.

And a special tip: you can find blueberries in the forest so you can do some blueberry picking there!

Visit Korouoma National Park

Korouoma National Park is a stunning natural reserve located in the southern part of Finnish Lapland, known for its dramatic canyon-like valley and exceptional outdoor activities.

In the winter months, there are frozen waterfalls there! It’s a magical place! There are some guided tours organized there and I would highly recommend one of those, if you are interested in visiting Korouoma. You can find the tour and buy the tickets from here.

Spend Time In The Beach Of Rovaniemi

There’s a beautiful beach in Rovaniemi. Going to the beach is one of our kids favorite things to do in Rovaniemi in the summer.

The beach is right by the Jätkänkynttilä-bridge. You can see the beach from Rovaniemi center and walk across the bridge to get there. Sometimes there has been reindeers at the beach as well!

Visit Science Center Pilke

Science Center Pilke is a place our kids love! At the Science Centre Pilke exhibition, you can immerse yourself in the forest experience through all your senses and from various perspectives. Take the driver’s seat of a forestry machine, step inside a birdhouse, and enjoy singing karaoke on an ant hill.

Visit Santa Claus Village And The Arctic Circle

One of the must things to do in Rovaniemi is to visit Santa Claus Village. You can go there to meet Santa Claus and take a picture with him.

You can also visit the Santa’s Post Office and walk around the Santa Claus Village. There are beautiful Christmas songs playing and a really nice and magical atmosphere!

When you go to Santa Claus Village, you will also be able to cross the Arctic Circle!

If you visit Santa Claus Village in the summer, there’s also a nice playground outside for the kids.

Visit The Reindeer Safari And The Husky Safari

When you come to Lapland I’m sure you are thinking that you want to see arctic animals such as reindeers. And I understand that! They are exotic animals. It was funny that growing up in Rovaniemi we used to have reindeers in our backyard sometimes.

There are many tours in Rovaniemi such as organized reindeer safaris and I would highly recommend those. You can have a reindeer ride in the safari’s.

Many people ask if they should book the safari’s in advance, and I would say that it’s a good idea especially if you are coming to Rovaniemi during the most busy season.

Husky farms is also something exotic to do and it’s especially fun for the kids! You can meet huskies and have a husky ride there. Here’s an excellent option for the husky safari visit:

If you are interested in all of the things that are mentioned above, I recommend the tour that has all of these three things. You can visit the Santa Claus Village, go to the Reindeer safari and the Husky safary. You will have all of those at the same tour, so it makes everything a bit more convenient. And if you want to see other arctic animals such as polar bears, I suggest visiting the Ranua wildlife park.

Make an excursion to the shore of Lake Salmijärvi

This tip could not be given by someone who hasn’t lived in Rovaniemi!

We often go on the shore of lake Salmijärvi, make a fire there and fry some sausages. Both in the summer and in the winter. It is easily accessible by car.

Make an excursion to the King’s Lean-To

Rovaniemi has another great hiking spot – the King’s lean-to.

The scenery from there is really great! Getting there is a bit more difficult than to the lean-to in Salmijärvi. You can get to a certain point by car, but then you have to walk.

Visit Arktikum Museum

Arktikum museum is a science centre and museum where you can get to know the nature, culture and history of the north. It is located at the Rovaniemi city center.

Arktikum is worth a visit and our 6 and 9 year old children also like spending time in there.

Try The Traditional Finnish Firewood Sauna – And Ice Swimming

If you have never been to sauna, I would highly recommend trying it out! Going to sauna is one of the very Finnish things to do in Rovaniemi.

In Finland, people go to sauna naked, but I’m sure that’s not something that is mandatory for tourists.

It’s also essential to stay hydrated, limit time in sauna, and consult a doctor if you have certain health conditions.

In case you are interested in going to sauna, you can find a private sauna and hot tub tour in here.

And if you want to try something very special, that is ice swimming with sauna (in the winter time)! Ice swimming has a lot of health benefits, but it is still something that I haven’t done yet. My husband goes ice swimming many times a week and he loves it.

There’s also an organized ice floating tours if you’re interested in trying that out!

Another exciting thing to do besides those is walk on the frozen lake! There are some lakes in Rovaniemi (one for example close to Rantavitikka area) and a frozen river as well.

Make sure the frozen lakes and river are really frozen before you go there!

See The Northern Lights

If you are visiting Rovaniemi in the winter months, I think you have been thinking that it would be nice to see the northern lights dance.

It’s not always so easy to see the northern lights and I’m sure you don’t want to miss them. There are some places where they can be seen and I suggest taking an organized tour. You can find one great one from here.

Riverside Luxury Suites is our family’s favourite! We stay here every summer, and I can’t think of a more amazing place to spend a family holiday in Rovaniemi. If you are staying here, you will need a car, as the location is a bit far from the Rovaniemi city centre.

Arctic Light Hotel

Arctic Light Hotel is located right in the centre of Rovaniemi, within walking distance of cafés, restaurants and Angry Birds Park. Arctic Light Hotel has the best breakfast and even if we don’t stay at Arctic Light Hotel, we eat breakfast here at least once during our trip.

Santa Claus Holiday Village

Santa Claus Holiday Village hotel is located right in the middle of Santa Claus Village. From there, it’s a 2-minute walk to say hello to Santa Claus. This is an excellent option, especially in winter and around Christmas.

Ounasvaara Chalets

Ounasvaara Chalets is located in Ounasvaara, right next to the ski resort. The location is very quiet and if you plan to ski or snowboard, this hotel is a great option. Ounasvaara Chalets offers cottages with a great atmosphere and is sure to be a great place to spend a family holiday.

Restaurants in Rovaniemi

Then there is one of the most important topics: food! At least for me, it’s always important to be able to enjoy good food. And that’s one of the best things to do in Rovaniemi – eat at nice restaurants.

Did you know, that if you eat during lunch time (11am-2pm) many restaurants have lunch offers and the prices are cheaper? Those offers are usually not valid if it’s a holiday season (for example Christmas), but other times they do have those lunch offers. So I suggest eating out during lunch time if you want to save some money!

We have a few favorite restaurants in Rovaniemi. These are all decently priced and the food is really good in each of them!

Gustav Kitchen & Bar

We visit Gustav Kitchen & Bar for lunch several times a week during our holiday in Rovaniemi. Lunch includes a salad buffet, REALLY good bread baked at the root, a changing main course and coffee and a tasty cookie.

The food is really tasty every time! The children have also liked the food and my particular favourite has been the really good bread baked at the root and (of course) the cookie.

No wonder this is our favorite restaurant in Rovaniemi!

Restaurant Hanki

Restaurant Hanki is a korean restaurant close to Rovaniemi center. The food in there is amazing! And no wonder the place has received great reviews in Facebook: 4,9/5! Their customer service is also great.

Café Kauppayhtiö

We’ve been to Café Kauppayhtiö several times and we’ve often had a burger there. The burgers are high quality and really tasty! Kauppayhtiö also provides excellent pizza. I haven’t had time to test it myself yet, but this tip has come from such a reliable source (my brother who has excellent judgment when it comes to quality food) so I think pizzas are worth testing!

Café Kauppayhtiö is also an interesting lunch place in the sense that the furniture, movables and small items there are all for sale!

I definitely recommend visiting Café Kauppayhtiö while in Rovaniemi. I think you probably haven’t come across a café like this anywhere else.

Paras Pizza

Paras Pizza (The Best Pizza) is located a little further from the city center, in Saarenkylä. Here you can get pizza with a really thin and crunchy base! The pizzas are also big and for our family of four 2-3 pizzas is enough (so total, not per person!).

I also think pizzas are really affordable!

Our accommodation, Riverside Luxury Suites, is located close to Paras Pizza, so we get lunch here quite often.

Other tips for a holiday in Rovaniemi

Here are a few more tips worth mentioning if you are heading to Rovaniemi for a holiday.

Layering is recommended: The weather in Lapland can be unpredictable, so layering is recommended. While summer days can be warm, evenings and nights can be cool. I have to mention that last summer (2023) it was +11 and rainy one day in Rovaniemi in July. It got quite cold with summer clothes.

Mosquito protection included: In summer, mosquitoes can be a nuisance. Be sure to pack mosquito repellents and long clothes, especially in the evenings. A fun observation has been that there haven’t been many mosquitoes in our accommodation at Riverside Luxury Suites. I don’t know if it’s because of the location or what, but it’s been a nice surprise.

Bring rainwear and shoes: An umbrella and rainwear are useful as the weather can change quickly.

Bring a travel stroller: It is good to have a stroller with you, as you will definitely walk a lot in Rovaniemi. Check out my recommendations for a good stroller here.

It is worth renting a car: If you have not come to Rovaniemi with your own car, then renting a car is recommended. Although Rovaniemi can be reached many places on foot, a car also allows access to sights further away, such as Santa Claus Village, Ounasvaara, etc.

Take advantage of local transport: If you don’t have a car, public transport is good and covers the most important destinations in the city.

Bring sunscreen: In summer, the sun can be surprisingly strong (even though we’re pretty north!), so be sure to pack sunscreen and headgear.

I love visiting Lapland in the summer and there are many pros to that (including cheaper accomodation prices!), but there are a lot reasons (such as the magical Northern Lights) why you should visit Lapland in the winter as well.

In this post, I’ll guide you through the different seasons of Lapland so you can decide what is the best time to visit Lapland for your family.

Why Visit Lapland?

5 Excellent Places To Stay In Rovaniemi With Kids

Rovaniemi has a lot of different kinds of hotels to offer and some of them are more suitable for families than the others.

I’ll go through a few perfect places to stay in Rovaniemi with kids. Especially one of them is our family’s favorite and we go there again and again.

Riverside Luxury Suites

Riverside Luxury Suites is by far our favorite place to stay in Rovaniemi! We come here every summer and this place is flawless!

It is located in a quiet and peaceful area and you need a car if you stay here. The drive to Rovaniemi center takes about 10 minutes, so even if the location is peaceful, the accommodation is not far from the center and all the activities.

Riverside Luxury Suites has a few apartments with 3 or 4 bedrooms. You will have your own kitchen, own sauna and a beautiful view to the river from the big windows.

You will also have a washing machine and a dryer for the clothes – this is usually something that families traveling with children will need!

This is a perfect place to spend the family holiday! I think this like a hidden gem and one of the best places to stay in Rovaniemi with kids.

We’ve only been here in the summer, but this place is incredible in the winters too!

Arctic Light Hotel

The Arctic Light Hotel is another perfect place to stay in Rovaniemi with kids. It is a small hotel that is owned by a family.

The Arctic Light Hotel has an arctic theme and you can see it everywhere.

If you stay here as a family, you will need to book a bigger room such as the Arctic room (this is our favorite!), the Aurora Loft or the Polar room.

There’s a really nice sauna you can book for your family for free. You can book the sauna for 30 minutes and it fits maximum of 5 people.

In case you want to have sauna in your room, you can book a Polar room with sauna.

If we come to Rovaniemi and we don’t stay at this hotel, we will still come here to have breakfast at least once! The breakfast in this hotel is amazing! The theme of the breakfast is Lapland and you can enjoy traditional dishes from Lapland there.

Santa Claus Holiday Village

Santa Claus Holiday Village is a wonderful hotel for families – especially during the winter!

It is located at the heart of Santa Claus Village in the Arctic Circle so you could not be more close to the Christmas atmosphere. It’s a 2 minute walk from there to see the Santa Claus!

And even just walking around the Arctic Circle area feel magical. There are Christmas songs playing outside and if it’s winter – there will most likely be a lot of snow!

When you stay at the Santa Claus Village, you are also close to different kinds of activities: you can go skiing, hiking or go to a reindeer or husky safari!

The village offers cozy and well-equipped cabins and apartments, many with private saunas and fireplaces. You can book for example a classic cottage with sauna.

Ounasvaaran Lakituvat Chalets

Ounasvaaran Lakituvat Chalets have lovely cottages located a a very peaceful area. The cottages are perfect for families! The location is about 3km from the city center and I suggest having a car if you are staying here.

Ounasvaaran Lakituvat is very close to the downhill skiing resort of Ounasvaara – you can actually walk there! There are also skiing routes right next to Ounasvaaran Lakituvat.

We come to Rovaniemi every summer and we will come to Ounasvaara every time. In the winter you can go downhill skiing, but in the summer there will be a big slide down the hill! It’s so much fun! Our boys insist on going there every time!

From Ounasvaara there is a really nice walking route to the neighbouring hill, Tottorakka. We usually take some coffee and snacks with us and walk to Tottorakka. The scenery is really beautiful from there! And when walking there, you can enjoy the beautiful and peaceful nature of Rovaniemi.

Arctic Treehouse Hotel

The Arctic Treehouse Hotel – ah, where do I start! If you are looking for a family hotel in Rovaniemi that has some luxury, this is definitely the place to stay.

We haven’t stayed here, but we have been here and checked out the location and the different kind of rooms they have to offer.

The rooms are like a little “treehouses” and all of them were SO beautiful! The windows provided stunning views of the surrounding forests and felt like you were just in the middle of the forest – and that’s kind of true

I can imagine what it would feel like to watch the Northern Lights from this hotel!

The hotel is very close to an amusement park called SantaPark, so if you are looking for some fun activities, SantaPark in within a walking distance.

Helsinki, the capital of Finland has a lot of different activities for families with children!

We have usually done our trip to Helsinki in the summer, but some of these activities are also suitable for winter trips!

What are the best things to do in Helsinki for families with children? Let’s go through 12 must-know things to do in Helsinki that the whole family will surely enjoy! My favorite one is the Children’s Town, right next to Helsinki cathedral. And it has free admission!

Take A Free Walking Tour

One of the first things we like to do when we arrive at a new destination is joining a free walking tour. It’s a great way to explore the main attractions, discover the local history and Finnish culture, and have a knowledgeable guide on hand to answer any questions.

This is of course something we don’t do in Helsinki, as we are familiar with it, but for the tourists it’s a great way to get to know the city. And a lot of things in central Helsinki are within a walking distance.

In case you don’t want to walk, you can always rent city bike as well.

Visit Contemporary Art Kiasma Museum

Spend The Day In Korkeasaari Zoo

Korkeasaari Zoo is surely one of many children’s favorite destinations in Helsinki Finland. And I’m not surprised, I remember from my childhood how wonderful it was to get to the zoo.

Korkeasaari Zoo is located on an island. You can leave your car in the Mustikkamaa parkinglot and walk from there along a small footpath to the entrance of Korkeasaari. After that, you can walk across the bridge to the zoo itself.

If the parking lot is full, you can also leave the car in the parking garage of the shopping center Redi.

From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the entrance. In summer, Korkeasaari can also be reached by water from the market square!

You should reserve enough time to visit Korkeasaari. You can easily spend several hours there or even the whole day. It’s also worth bringing something to drink, especially if the weather is warm!

Have Fun At Linnanmäki Amusement Park

When you think about what there is to do in Helsinki for families with children, I think Linnanmäki Amusement Park is one of the things that comes to mind!

At Linnanmäki, you can find various devices for the whole family, including the smallest ones. We visited Linnanmäki when our firstborn was only 3 years old. Some of the children’s devices are free and we visited them with our son.

I remember that the day we went to Linnanmäki, there was a lot of people and long queues for every device.

If we were going to Linnanmäki, I would like to go on a day when it rains (or mostly drizzles). Then there will probably be fewer people and a little summer rain won’t be that bad!

Explore the Old Market Hall

Located near the harbor in the city center, the Old Market Hall is a historic market dating back to 1889. It’s a great spot for families to experience local Finnish food and culture and it has a great location as well.

The hall offers a variety of fresh foods, traditional Finnish treats, and local delicacies such as fresh fish, Karelian pies and cinnamon buns. I recommend tasting the Finnish salmon soup and the delicious cinnamon buns and other great food the Old Market Hall has to offer.

It’s an ideal place for a quick lunch or snack while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. Kids will enjoy sampling different foods, and parents can find unique items to bring home.

Visit The Natural History Museum

We went to the Helsinki Natural History Museum last summer and I must say that it was a really nice experience for our whole family! The museum had four floors and each floor had a lot to see.

The museum has five permanent exhibitions and changing exhibitions. The permanent exhibitions are: Finnish nature, History of life, World nature, Change in the air and Bones tell. Our boys liked especially the dinosaur skeletons from the museum – they were huge!

Spend The Day In Suomenlinna Sea Fortress

Suomenlinna is an absolutely wonderful destination on a beautiful summer day. You can spend several hours in Suomenlinna walking around it along the cobbled streets and sandy paths.

The boys have managed to walk around there really well too, and it was nice for them to see e.g. cannons!

You can also enjoy good food in Suomenlinna, because there are restaurants and cafes there. Suomenlinna is also a great place for a picnic and we have liked to take a picnic blanket and snacks with us.

How To Get To Suomenlinna Sea Fortress?

It is easy to reach Heureka by car. You can leave your car in the Heureka parking lot, which is on the other side of the train track at Kuninkaalantie 5.

It is also easy to arrive at Heureka by train. It is about a 700m walk from Tikkurila station to Heureka.

I hadn’t heard of Children’s Town before last summer and I was glad I heard about it!

The Children’s Town is part of the Helsinki City Museum. It is located at the city center on the corner of Senate Square and there is always free admission! It is also located in front of Helsinki cathedral, so it’s easy to visit the cathedral as well.

We went to Kids Towm last summer and it was a really great place! There you also found familiar things from your own childhood. There was, among other things, a landline phone and a lot of old toys (e.g. ponies and turtles).

In addition to exhibitions, the Kids Town offers all kinds of activities for children.

Kids Town was not only interesting for children, but also for us adults.

Kids Town can therefore be found in the Helsinki City Museum. Here is the location on the map.

Hotel F6

Hotel F6 is our family’s absolute favorite on our trips to Helsinki. It is possible to book a spacious 42-square-meter Deluxe room in the hotel, which can accommodate two large extra beds.

The hotel is located in the center of Helsinki, a few minutes’ walk from the market square. The breakfast in this hotel is also excellent (and it is at least important to me when choosing a hotel!).

The F6 hotel has a lovely courtyard and a fun scooter for children.

If you are traveling by car, you can park your car in a nearby parking garage and you can get a discount code for that parking lot from the hotel.

Glo Hotel Sello

Glo Hotel Sello is a basic hotel in Espoo in the Sello shopping center. We have stayed here a few times and there are a few reasons why we like this hotel.

First of all, I think the price is reasonable and the customer service is excellent. When staying at Glo Hotel Sello, you can also leave your car for free in the parking garage for 24 hours. It is very easy to get to this hotel, because you can drive your car directly into the parking garage and take the elevator to the hotel lobby.

So if you are traveling by car and find it difficult to stay in the center of Helsinki, Glo Hotel Sello is an excellent choice. You can also explore the Sello shopping center at the same time!

The rooms are quite ordinary and can easily accommodate 2 extra beds. Admittedly, there isn’t much floor space left after that, but it doesn’t matter when the idea is to go to the hotel just to sleep.

The breakfast is also quite good. Nothing special, but there is a variety of food for everyone at breakfast.

In my opinion, Glo Hotel Sello is good value for money, but also a really convenient hotel in the sense that if you travel by car, you can easily park your car for free.

I think Rovaniemi is a must-visit destination for families, adventure seekers and those interested in experiencing the Arctic. There are a lot of things to do in Rovaniemi, many activities and a lot of attractions to see. 

There are many tours in Rovaniemi, but also a lot of things to do for free.

In the summer, you can experience the midnight sun, the beautiful nature of Rovaniemi and some fun summer activities such as bobsleighing in Ounasvaara.

You can also enjoy the nature of Rovaniemi in Ounasvaara, wonder in the forest and see the breathtaking views from there. Also trips to Rovaniemi are a lot cheaper during the summer time!

In the winter, you can experience real winter, the beautiful northern lights, reindeer sledge, husky rides and beautiful winter attractions such as the frozen waterfalls or Korouoma.

Day 2: Adventure and Culture

Morning: Arktikum Science Museum and Pilke Science Center

Start the day with a visit to Arktikum to learn about Arctic research, Finnish Lapland, and the history and culture of the Sámi people.

Arktikum is our family’s favorite place to visit when we go to Rovaniemi. Our 6 and 9 year old boys love to spend time there.

Pilke Science Center

There’s also Science Center Pilke right next to Arktikum, so I recommend visiting that as well. There are a lot of things to do for kids in Pilke.

Lunch: Restaurant Hanki

Restaurant Hanki is a korean restaurant in Rovaniemi. It is a small, family run restaurant and the food there is amazing! It’s not a traditional Finnish food, but it’s well worth the visit.

Afternoon: Snowmobiling or Reindeer Sleigh Ride

I would suggest a snowmobile or reindeer ride with a sledge if you are visiting Rovaniemi in the winter. I believe both of them will be exotic experiences for you.

If you are traveling with children, a reindeer ride would be the one I recommend, as it is a lot easier with smaller children then snowmobile ride.

Evening: Rovaniemi City Tour or Sauna Experience

Explore Rovaniemi city center, including landmarks like Lordi’s Square and the Rovaniemi Church. This guided tour might be a nice one for the adults, but if you are traveling with smaller children, I would recommend a sauna experience.

Especially if you are traveling in the winter, going to sauna is very atmospheric and exotic experience.

Free Activities

You can also explore Rovaniemi city centre for free. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and cafe’s within a walking distance in the city centre. If you are in Rovaniemi in the summer, there’s a beach close to the center of Rovaniemi. If you are traveling with kids, you might want to spend some time at the beach as well.

If you are traveling in Rovaniemi in the winter, you can go for a walk on the frozen river. People in Rovaniemi usually go to the river to ski, walk or have a snowmobile ride. A free activity is going to the river for a walk.

Before you go, make sure the river is frozen and you see other people there as well! There are also frozen lakes in Rovaniemi as well, one of them is for example close to the area called Rantavitikka.

I spent the first 20 years of my life in Rovaniemi. I don’t live there anymore, but I come back to Rovaniemi every year. I have found an excellent place for our family to stay in Rovaniemi – Riverside Luxury Suites!

I tend to research a lot of different accommodation options and find the ones that are best value for money and that have received excellent reviews from guests. I am often asked for advice on accommodation.

In this post, I’ll share our family’s experience at Riverside Luxury Suite and why it’s a great accommodation option for families. I’m going through Riverside Luxury Suites’:

Riverside Luxury Suites

We’ve been at Riverside Luxury Suites for four summers in a row now. We fell in love with this place as soon as we were there for the first time. After that, our trip to Rovaniemi every summer and our stay at Riverside Luxury Suite has been one of the highlights of our family’s year.

Riverside Luxury Suites is an excellent accommodation option when travelling to Rovaniemi with your family. It’s no surprise that Riverside Luxury Suites is rated 9.8/10 on Booking.com. I have stayed in Finland in several hotels and Airbnb’s, but this is by far one of the best accommodations in Finland.

Location

Riverside Luxury Suites is located in a very quiet area of Vaarala and is about 5.3km from Santa Claus Village, 7.2km from Rovaniemi city centre and 6.1km from Rovaniemi Airport.

In my opinion, the location is excellent, as the area is very peaceful, but it is still only a few minutes’ drive to the nearest grocery store and about a 10min drive to Rovaniemi city center.

It’s a good idea to have a car when staying at Riverside Luxury Suite. In the yard there is a free parking space in the carport and several parking spaces outside the shelter as well.

The Apartments

What we appreciate about our holiday is that the place where we are is clean, spacious and peaceful. Riverside Luxury Suites has it all. A big plus is the magnificent view of the river from the living room – in that landscape, the soul and mind flab, and at the latest when looking at that landscape, you can relax from the rush and stress of everyday life.

Riverside Luxury Suite has 5 apartments. Four apartments have 3 bedrooms and one apartment has 4 bedrooms. The apartments also have a spacious and well-equipped kitchen (with high-quality tableware!), a living room, a utility room, two toilets, a bathroom and a sauna.

As a family with children, we want the holiday to be easy and I have to say that the laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) make everyday life much easier.

It’s also lovely that the Riverside Luxury Suite has a really spacious lawn in the backyard and there’s a playground for kids in the front yard. So children have room to hustle and release energy!

One of the most awesome things about staying here is the wonderful view of the river that opens from the living room of each apartment. You could just stare at that landscape from morning till night! We often drink our morning coffee on the terrace and watch the flowing river. Oh, how relaxing!

The Yard

In addition to the fact that the Riverside Luxury Suite has a great lawn in the backyard and there is also a campfire site in the backyard where you can make a fire and fry sausages.

There is also a lakeside sauna and a hot tub in the yard, which can be rented for a separate price.

Why Riverside Luxury Suites Is A Great Accommodation Option for Families?

Riverside Luxury Suites is a great option for families for many reasons. It is spacious inside, has everything that families with children may need (well-equipped kitchen, utility room with washer and dryer, bathroom and sauna), it is in a quiet area, yet close to everything.

Riverside Luxury Suite is a convenient place to make day trips to Ounasvaara, Santa Claus Village, Rovaniemi city centre services and other Rovaniemi attractions.

When we’ve stayed at the Riverside Luxury Suite, we always feel like we don’t want to leave! There the soul and mind rests and can calm down properly from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Price Range

In my opinion, the price range of Riverside Luxury Suite is excellent. In the summer and autumn, the price level of Riverside Luxury Suites is around 170-180€/night.

In the winter during the high season (November-March) the price level is around 300-1600€/night depending on the dates.

Conclusion

I don’t recommend hotels and accommodation very easily. They have to be really good and of high quality. I can fully recommend Riverside Luxury Suites. We’ve been there for four summers now and it’s never disappointed. Every time I feel like I don’t want to leave. A summer trip to Rovaniemi is one of the highlights of our family.

Riverside Luxury Suites is ideal not only for families but also for larger groups of friends. And although we’ve been to Riverside Luxury Suites only in the summer, it is a really nice and atmospheric place to stay in the winter as well.
