You can easily get to the market by taxi or your own car. If you come to the market with your own car, please note that there may be limited parking space.

The market is open from morning to afternoon, usually around 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You should go to the market first thing in the morning, because it is more crowded in the afternoon.

When you go right in the morning, the product selection is the best, because the sellers have just arrived and the products are still well displayed. You can also choose the freshest fruits and vegetables! Mornings are good times to arrive at the market also because it’s already really hot at noon in the summer.

The mornings are cooler and it is therefore more comfortable to visit the market then.

Saturday is the second market day of the week. The market is held in the same area as the Tuesday market. The Saturday market is a bigger market than the Fuengirola market on Tuesdays.

The market organized on Saturday is more of a flea market than a traditional street market.

The market opens in the morning and is open until around 2 pm in the afternoon. Since there are a lot of people in the market, you should remember to take good care of your valuables, because there can be pickpockets in the market.

First Impressions Of Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife makes a great first impression!

The resort is beautiful, with fairy tale-themed castles and lush gardens. It’s very clean and well-maintained. Most of the staff are friendly and welcoming, although there were some at the reception that we not that friendly.

When you check in, you will get a wristband. This wristband is important because it serves as your key to many services. Here’s how to use it:

1. Room Access: The wristband works as your room key. Just tap it against the sensor on your room door to unlock it. Our boys loved to open the door with the wristband!
2. All-Inclusive Services: The wristband shows that you are an all-inclusive guest. You can use it to get meals, snacks, and drinks at the hotel’s restaurants and bars without needing to carry money or a card.
3. Facilities Access: It also grants you access to different areas of the resort, like the pools, gym, and entertainment areas.

Make sure to wear your wristband at all times while you are at the resort, as it’s convenient and makes your stay easier.

You must also download a Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife app, where you can book all the shows and ala carte restaurants!

Accommodation

Our experience on Family Master Suite

On our first trip we had booked a Family Master Suite. It was supposed to have two rooms separated with two doors. When we got to our room, it was a disappointment. Instead of two doors, there was only one door separating the two rooms. There was also a dead cockroach on the floor! The room had also a weird smell – it was like someone had cooked indian food there.

The room was located in block 5 (if you look from the reception to the sea block 5 was at the right hand side). The room had a big terrace and it was not facing the pool, but the opposite side.

We were very disappointed at the room and asked for a change. There were no rooms available so we stayed there for one night. Luckily we were able to change the room the next day. We got a Family Master Suite from the other side of the hotel, from block 3.

Our new room had two doors separating the two rooms and a nice big balcony. The room was facing the garden and we loved our room! We liked the fact that we were facing the garden so it wasn’t so noisy in the evenings with all of the evening entertainment going on.

Our experience on Junior Suite

On our second trip we asked for a room from the block 3 and wanted to have a room that was facing the garden. We got a garden facing room from block 2 and were satisfied. The Junior Suite was very nice, it was a big room with a double bed and a sofa bed. It was very spacious and clean.

There was one thing that bothered us though. The bathroom had a bit of a bad smell. The cleaner came to clean it well, but the smell stayed there. We kept the bathroom door closed during the night and we managed with the smell. It wasn’t that bad after all. Or maybe I’m just too sensitive to smells.

They would have offered us another room, but it would have been facing the pool and we didn’t want that. We go to bed early and the noise from the evening entertainment would have kept us awake so we decided to stay in the first foom.

I would rate the rooms: 9/10

The Food

Ah, let’s talk about food! It’s one of the most important thing in a hotel – for me at least!

Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife has the following restaurants:

• Ladon “Brasa Grill” Restaurant
• Nemura Asian Restaurant
• Il Paradiso Italian Restaurant

The Main Buffet

I love healthy food and I would call myself as a foodie. I’ve noticed some comments that the food at the main buffet was not good. I think there was a lot of variety and all of us always found something to eat! There was salads, meat, fish, fruits, cheeces etc.

I enjoy food that is good quality and I would not complain about the quality of Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife’s food. For me it was fine. Of course I’ve been to restaurants where the quality is better, but I don’t have complains about the food in this hotel.

The Dreams Factory

You will get some snacks from the Dreams Factory and there’s also breakfast served there as well. There’s mainly burger, fries, hot dogs etc. We didn’t eat there a lot, we only went to get some drinks from there when we hang out at the pool.

The A la Carte Restaurants

When you stay at the hotel for a week, you are able to dine at 3 ala carte restaurants (Italian restaurant, Asian Restaurant and the Brasa Grill restaurant). You can book the tables from the app.

The restaurants don’t have paper menus, there’s a QR code you can scan and you’ll find the menus from there.

I would say all of those Ala carte restaurants were good, but our favourite was the Italian! The service was great, the food was really good, but what I liked about the most was that the kids were able to make their own pizzas! They really enjoyed it and it was a fun activity for them while we were waiting for our food.

If I had to choose one ala carte restaurant that I would not go again it would be the Brasa Grill restaurant. The stake there was tough and the first course (chicken salad) was so big that I was full after eating just that.

The fun thing there was that we could order a sausage that was one meter long, so that was a nice experience for the kids.

I would rate the food: 8,5/10

The Shows

If you stay for a week you can book 2 shows. I don’t have anything bad to say about the shows – they were amazing! I have been to a lot of hotels and I can say that none of the others have had shows this professional! Our whole family was amazed by the shows and I can say that the shows were one of the highlights of our stay!

Make sure you book the shows from the app before your trip or during your first day!

I would rate the shows: 10/10

The Pool Area

The pool area was huge! There were pools for both adults and families. The adults can spend time in the infinity pool that it closest to the sea. There’s also a pool bar next to the infinity pool.

In the middle of the area there are pools for the kids. One of the pools has really shallow water so it’s suitable for very small kids. One pool has water slides and in the third pool, next to the tree, the water is more deep. I think there could have been a pool for the kids who can swim, but water shouldn’t be too deep for them. That kind of pool was missing.

There are two more pools right in front of the hotel. Those are mainly for adults (but of course kids can swim there as well). We found those pools to be more quiet, because loud music was played at the kids pool.

One thing I must mention about the pool area: it can be really windy there at times! And if the sun isn’t shining, it can be a bit chilly by the pool if its windy. We were there in January and February, so in the summer months it might not be chilly even if it’s windy!

I would rate the pool area: 9/10

Location and Surroundings

One thing I was concerned about before our trip was the location. I read that there isn’t much to do around the hotel and the airport is close so there will be a lot of noise from the planes.

Well there was a lot of noise from the planes, but it did not bother us. The good thing is that the hotel is easy to reach from the airport.

A daytrip to Los Christianos

There isn’t a lot to do around the hotel. But you can always make a daytrip to for example Los Christianos.

To get from Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife to Los Cristianos, you have several options:

1. By Car: Driving is the fastest and most convenient option. It’s about a 15-minute drive. Head southwest on Avenida J.M. Galván Bello and take the TF-1 motorway towards Los Cristianos. Follow the signs for the town center. If you want to rent a car, we’ve heard great things about NOWTenerife, which is just accross the road.
2. By Taxi: Taxis are readily available at the hotel. The ride to Los Cristianos takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic, and the drivers will take you directly to your destination. It will cost around 20€.
3. By Bus: You can take a local bus from nearby stops. Check with the hotel reception for the latest bus schedules and routes. Look for buses that go towards Los Cristianos; the journey typically takes about 30-40 minutes.

Once in Los Cristianos, you can enjoy the beautiful beaches, shopping, dining, and a variety of entertainment options that make it one of Tenerife’s most popular destinations.

Take a walk to Los Abrigos

There’s a charming fishing village of Los Abrigos near the hotel and there was a really nice pathway from the hotel to the city.

Known for its picturesque harbor and excellent seafood restaurants, it offers a more traditional and peaceful atmosphere compared to the more tourist-heavy areas of Tenerife.

There’s a really nice walking path from the hotel that takes you to Los Abrigos.

Tips For Your Stay At The Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

I got some great tips from a Facebook-group before our trip and I wanted to share these with you!

Take your own coffee cup with you – this will be beneficial if you like to drink coffee by the pool.

Take shoes for the pool for you and your kids – the pool area can be very slippery! There were some accidents happening during our stay, because people fell.

Download the app before you go – you can book the shows and a la carte dinners before your trip!

If you want a quiet room – book a room that is not facing the pool.

Overall Experience

In conclusion, Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife offers a fantastic vacation experience. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed into a magical, fairy tale-like setting with beautiful surroundings and friendly staff.

The food is really good with a lot of variety and the shows are amazing! There’s something for everyone at this hotel and even if some might think that the location of the hotel isn’t great, I found the location to be good. We went to Los Christianos for a day and I was happy to come back to our hotel from the touristic area of Los Christianos.

If you are thinking wheather you should go there or not – my advice would be to go! I’ve been very happy with the hotel both of the times we were there and I am dreaming about going there again. You can check out trip advisor reviews, Google reviews and Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife Facebook-group and ask there if you have any concerns. I especially like the reviews from the Facebook group, because I knew they were sincere!

Our family is going to stay in Fuengirola, Spain next winter for a few months and most likely we’ll be coming to Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife then. Can’t wait!

Choosing the right time to visit Costa del Sol is important for maximizing your enjoyment of this stunning destination. 

Weather in Costa Del Sol in the winter

We were there in January and February and those were not the most ideal months to stay in Costa Del Sol.

From December to February it is winter in Costa Del Sol and it is the least crowded time to visit (I liked that!). Temperature was around 15-20°C (59-68°F), making it perfect for exploring cultural attractions and enjoying scenic hikes. 

Even though it was winter and a bit more chilly than the other months of the year, for me the weather was excellent! It was sunny and I would say most of the time we were ok with t-shirt and long pants. Although some days it got a bit more chilly and we needed to have coats as well.

Weather in Costa Del Sol in the spring and in the fall

For a more relaxed experience with milder temperatures and fewer crowds, consider visiting in the spring (March to May) or fall (September to November).

During these shoulder seasons, temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), and you can still enjoy outdoor activities without the summer crowds. 

Weather in Costa Del Sol in the summer

If you’re looking to soak up the sun and enjoy water activities, the summer months from June to August are ideal time to travel, with temperatures averaging around 30°C (86°F). 

However, be prepared for larger crowds and higher prices during this peak tourist season.

Ultimately, the best time to visit Costa del Sol depends on your preferences and interests, so choose the season that suits you best for an unforgettable experience.

Finding cheap flights to Malaga can be achievable with some strategic planning and savvy tips. I love to search for cheap flights and I’m more than happy to share with you my tips. So here are some suggestions to help you snag a bargain:

How to find affordable accommodation from Costa Del Sol?

Finding affordable accommodation in Costa Del Sol can be achievable, although the prices will vary depending on when you are going. I personally want to find great hotel deals that are both affordable and very good – and I must say that I am pretty good at finding those deals. So here are some suggestions to help you find a budget-friendly place to stay:

• Book in Advance: Just like with flights, booking your accommodation well in advance can often lead to better deals. Aim to book your hotel or rental property as early as possible to secure lower rates.

• Compare Prices: Use hotel booking websites, vacation rental platforms, and price comparison tools to compare prices across different accommodations in Costa Del Sol. Look for special promotions, discounts, or last-minute deals that can offer significant savings.

• Stay Outside Popular Areas: Consider staying in accommodations located slightly outside of popular tourist areas or beachfront locations. These options often offer lower rates while still providing easy access to attractions and amenities.

I personally use Booking.com quite a lot. They have a loyalty program that offers 10% off the price. I’ve also noticed that sometimes the prices are better in Booking.com than if you book directly from the hotel!

By reading reviews you will also know what the other guests have liked and disliked – if there are comments about things you absolutely don’t want (a noisy hotel, bad smells, bad customer service, poor food quality) I suggest avoiding that hotel.

Where to eat in Costa Del Sol?

I will give you some great suggestions on where to eat for lunch and dinner. I’ll also tell you the best coffee and churro places in Costa Del Sol!

I would recommend these places for lunch

Cafe La Bohemia – the food in here is absolutely amazing! If you want to have a salad, a wrap, a burger, this is the place to go. 

Vegetalia – this is a Finnish restaurant that serves vegetarian food. There’s a lunch buffet there and it’s amazing! 

I would recommend these places for dinner

Romeo & Giulietta – here you will find the best pizza in Costa Del Sol! This place is located near the Torreblanca train station.

Best cafés

Granier – best coffees and bread.

Churreria Alcala – our favourite churros are found here! This is right around the corner of Los Boliches train station.

A bakery you must try

Mummola – this is a Finnish bakery and everything they have is delicious!

One fun fact about Costa del Sol is that it’s home to Europe’s largest butterfly park, located in Benalmadena.

Our favorite place, Costa del Sol, is like a sunny paradise in Spain! It’s a stretch of coastline along the Mediterranean Sea, famous for its beautiful beaches, warm weather, and lots of fun stuff to do. 

You can swim in the clear blue water, build sandcastles on the sandy beaches, or just relax in the sunshine. 

Costa del Sol is a great place for families to have fun together and make amazing memories!

There are also cool towns and villages to explore so you can easily make some nice daytrip from Costa Del Sol. Here are a few villages you can visit:

Fuengirola stole our hearts with its charm. It’s this stunning city in Costa del Sol that’s absolutely worth the visit, whether you’re just stopping by for a short visit or staying longer like we did.

There are a lot of entertainment options to choose from. From beautiful beaches to captivating cultural experiences, Fuengirola offers an array of amaexciting activities to suit every traveler’s taste.

Trust me, you won’t run out of fun things to explore.

Whether you’re a beach bum, history buff, or nature enthusiast, there’s something here for you. Or even if you only want to stay close to your hotel, I’m sure there will be some nice attractions you can find close by.

1. Walk along the Fuengirola beautiful beaches

Ah, Fuengirola’s beaches – where the golden sun meets the shimmering sea, creating a paradise for beach lovers like you. Picture this: soft, sandy beaches stretching as far as the eye can see, kissed by the gentle waves of the Mediterranean.

Paseo Marítimo

Walking at Paseo Marítimo was one of our family’s favorite thing to do! Some days the kids ended up playing in the sand, the other days we went to a cafe to have some snack.

What sets Fuengirola’s beaches apart is their unique dark sand, adding a touch of mystery and allure to the coastline. No wonder they are one of the most beautiful attractions in Fuengirola.

Even though the beach in Fuengirola, Paseo Maritimo, is 8km long, it has many different spots where you can enjoy the sun and the sand. For example Los Boliches beach has a lot of small restaurants, bars and cafes nearby.

And the best place for enjoying some churros is just around the corner! Make sure you have a cup of coffee and some churros in Churrecia Alcala if you are new Los Boliches.

There are also playgrounds for the kids at the Los Boliches beach so there are fun activities for the kids as well!

Carvajal

When you walk along the long beach of Fuengirola, at some point you will come to Carvajal beach. Carvajal more quiet with not so many restaurants and beach bars, but if you enjoy having some space you can choose this part of the beach. It is definitely worth checking!

There were a lot of couples at the Carvajal beach in the mornings. They had brought their own camping chairs with them as well as some refreshments. And a good book of course.

El Castillo Beach

Blue flag beaches

Fuengirola has several blue flag beaches – a recognition for the water quality, cleanliness and excellent facilities.

Some of those beaches in Fuengirola are playa de Fuengirola, playa de Los Boliches, Playa de Castillo and Playa Ronda Paco.

So, grab your towel and sunscreen – a day of blissful beach bliss awaits!

2. Visit the Sohail castle

Sohail Castle – one of the landmarks of Fuengirola and perched majestically atop a hill overlooking Fuengirola. A visit to this castle is one of those must things to do when you explore Fuengirola and it’s history.

One of the top things to do in Fuengirola is to visit this beautiful white town. Nestled in the rolling hills overlooking Fuengirola lies the picturesque village of Mijas Pueblo, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

You can explore local artisan shops, have some tapas at the cafe or just rest your eyes on the beautiful scenery, there’s no shortage of things to do in Mijas Pueblo.

It is a perfect place for a day trip and I’m sure it will capture your heart and leave you longing for more.

How to get to Mijas Pueblo?

Getting to Mijas Pueblo from Fuengirola is a breeze, and there are a few convenient options to choose from. If you prefer public transportation, you can hop on a bus operated by the local company, Avanza, which runs regularly between Fuengirola and Mijas Pueblo.

The buses leave close to the Fuengirola train station, so if you take a train to Fuengirola, it takes a few minutes to walk to the bus station where the bus number 122 will take you to Mijas.

How long does the journey take?

The journey typically takes around 20 minutes, and the bus drops you off near the entrance to the village, allowing for easy access to explore its charming streets and attractions.

The cost of the bus is 1,20€, so it’s really cheap and convenient.

Alternatively, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to soak in the scenic views along the way, you can opt to take a taxi or rent a car.
